How long does it take to build a pool?
From the first phone call to the first swim, here are the real timelines depending on the type of pool, and what can make them vary.
"And when will it be ready?" It's one of the first questions we're asked. The answer depends above all on the type of pool and on the permits. Here are some clear pointers.
Timelines by type of pool
- Above-ground or wooden pool (kit): a few days of assembly.
- Fibreglass pool: 1 to 3 weeks on site (excavation, installation, connections, finishing).
- Custom concrete: 6 to 10 weeks on site, depending on the structure and the finishes.
On top of these on-site durations come, beforehand, the time for the study, the quote and above all the building permit.

The main stages of a project
- Study & quote: site visit, advice, proposal. A few days to two weeks.
- Building permit: preparing the file, then review by the municipality, from a few weeks to a few months.
- Excavation & structure: the most visible part of the works.
- Plant room, finishes, coping.
- Filling & training in maintenance.
What makes timelines vary
- The building permit: often the longest factor, to be anticipated.
- Access to the site: difficult access lengthens the excavation.
- The weather: concrete and excavation are vulnerable to frost and heavy rain.
- The chosen finishes (terrace, deck, equipment).
- The season: spring is in high demand, so it's better to start your project ahead of time.
Our advice: plan ahead
To swim in the summer, the ideal is to launch your project the previous autumn or winter, giving you time to secure the permit calmly. We hand you a clear schedule right from the quote, with a single point of contact who coordinates everything.
