Frequently asked questions

Hundreds of projects and over 30 years of experience add up to a lot of questions asked, and just as many clear answers.

Which shape should I choose for my pool ?
A longer pool makes swimming more enjoyable, while a deeper one allows diving. The rectangle remains the best choice for safety and compatibility with automatic covers.
How do I choose my pool floor ?
For families with children, a flat floor offers more comfort and safety, plus energy savings thanks to even water heating. A diving pit is best reserved for diving enthusiasts.
Which colour for my liner ?
Dark shades give a contemporary look, ideal for swim lanes. For crystal-clear, bright water, go for white or light blue.
How do I choose for comfort ?
The rectangular model remains the most popular: it allows you to integrate wide steps, corner benches and optimal pool safety.
Can a pool be fitted into a small space ?
Yes, our mini pools adapt to small plots while keeping the advantages of a standard pool: counter-current swimming, hydromassage, automatic cover.
Which equipment should I choose ?
Our essentials: an automatic cover (safety + warmth), a heat pump, automatic pH regulation and salt electrolysis for eco-friendly disinfection with no chlorine handling.
Is the paperwork heavy ?
It depends on the canton, and timelines vary. With the turnkey package, Swiss Piscine handles the entire process: public inquiry, permits, coordination. You don't file anything yourself.
Where should I locate my pool ?
Four criteria: sun exposure, exposure to wind, the view from the house (keeping an eye on the children) and site access for construction. We analyse all of this during the first visit.
What's the best time to build ?
Pools are built all year round. Starting in autumn or winter lets the ground settle before landscaping, so you can enjoy the pool from the first sunny days.
How do I keep the water clear and healthy ?
Water balance rests on three parameters: pH (between 7 and 7.8), total alkalinity (bicarbonates and carbonates) and total hardness (water hardness). With automatic regulation, maintenance comes down to a few checks a month.
How do I heat my pool ?
Combine good positioning (sun exposure, wind protection) with the right equipment: heat pump, solar panels. Covering the pool at night keeps 3 to 4 °C, the most cost-effective move.
When and how do I winterise ?
As soon as the water drops below 13 °C. Two options: passive winterising (filtration fully stopped) or active (filtration 2-3 hours a day). We advise you according to your installation.
